It was a much shorter stay in Rio than Stan Wawrinka had anticipated. And although he was eliminated at the opening round of the Rio Open presented by Claro in his first appearance at the event, the Swiss will take home some good memories from Rio.

"It was my first time in Rio, I had an amazing welcome, a lot of support and I was really happy to be here, the city is amazing, a lot of energy in this place, hopefully I can come back”said Wawrinka, who was defeat by Buenos Aires champion Facundo Diaz Acosta in two sets (7/5 and 6/4).

"I’m sad to loose such a match, I started well, I tried to fight in the second set, tried to come back, tried to take the energy but I couldn’t, I had a chance to break back but I couldn’t. It was amazing to be here in Rio, I had a lot of support, I tried to use that to come back but I couldn’t”, said the Swiss who was leading the Argentinian by 5-2 in the first set.
