Thiago Wild from Paraná will not compete in the 2026 Rio Open after suffering an injury during the second set of his opening match at the Buenos Aires ATP tournament against chilean Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera last Tuesday (10).

As a result, Gustavo Heide from São Paulo was invited and inherits Wild's place in the main draw of the ATP 500, which will be held from February 16 to 22 at the Jockey Club Brasileiro.

Heide, 23 years old, reached 142nd place in the world ranking in 2024 and is currently number 257. He will compete in the Rio Open for the fourth time in his career.

In the qualifying rounds, which take place on February 14th and 15th, Pedro Boscardin from Santa Catarina will take Heide's place and will compete in his second Rio Open, seeking one of the four spots in the main draw.

Boscardin, 23 years old, is currently ranked 253rd in the world, his best career ranking.
