The 12th edition of the Rio Open, presented by Claro, begins its main singles and doubles draws this Monday. The 2026 edition will have a new record number of Brazilian representatives, with six players in the singles draw.
The schedule on the Guga Kuerten Court will begin with Brazilians João Fonseca and Marcelo Melo, former world number 1 in doubles, against Damir Dzumhur (BIH) and Alexandre Muller (FRA), at 4:30 PM (local time).
Before the match, the tournament will be officially opened with a special ceremony, featuring a performance by the Camerata do Instituto Claro, which will conduct the execution of the Brazilian National Anthem.
Fabi Alvim, two-time Olympic champion and idol of Brazilian volleyball, will enter with the trophy that will be raised by the champion at the end of the tournament next Sunday.
The ceremony also marks the debut of the court's new lighting, which enhances the audience experience at the biggest tennis tournament in South America.
The tournament's number 1 seed, Argentinian Francisco Cerundulo, who won the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires, will make his debut on Tuesday against the compatriot Mariano Navone.
