Brazilians João Fonseca and Marcelo Melo will face off German Constantin Frantzen and Dutch Robin Haase in the final of the main doubles draw of the Rio Open 2026, presented by Claro. The match will take place this Sunday on the Guga Kuerten Court.

For the second year in a row, an all-Brazilian double will compete in the final of the biggest tournament in South America. In 2025, Marcelo Melo and Rafael Matos won the title.

Fonseca and Melo defeated Germans Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner (6/2, 2/6, 13/11) in the first semifinal on the Guga Kuerten Court. The match tiebreak was played in Davis Cup mood, with the Brazilian crowd strongly supporting Fonseca and Melo until their victory.

“The atmosphere on the court when we reached the match point was electrifying, thrilling. We won not only for ourselves, but for the entire crowd as well,” said Melo, who will try his second title in the tournament.

“We always have to be focused, and we are happy with the way we played. We made mistakes and tried again with the same positive mentality, and that strengthened us a lot to achieve victory,” said Fonseca.

In the second semifinal played on Court 1, the German Frantzen and the Dutch Haase defeated the Argentinian Guido Andreozzi and the French Manuel Guinard (7/6(15), 2/6, 10/8). The tiebreak in the first set was the longest one in the history of the Rio Open.
