The third confirmed at the Rio Open is a representative of the new generation of tennis. The young Frenchman Arthur Fils, aged 19, is another player who will be present at the tenth edition of the biggest tennis tournament in South America, which will be played at the Jockey Club Brasileiro, in Rio de Janeiro, between the 17th and 25th of February.

Fils has already been leaving his marks on the circuit. 36th in the world at just 19 years old, the tennis player is coming off a great performance at the ATP 250 in Antwerp in October, where he defeated the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, number 7 in the world, on the way to runner-up.

The Frenchman, who was runner-up in singles and champion in youth doubles at Roland Garros 2021, started 2023 in 252nd position in the rankings. In his first tournament of the year, at the Oeiras challenger, Fils already won the title and began his rise among the best in the world. With a sequence of good results in the following tournaments, the tennis player quickly climbed the rankings and entered the major ATP tournaments. It was at home, at the ATP 250 in Lyon, that Fils won the first ATP of his career. With this campaign, the Frenchman, who was a guest of the organization, entered the Top 100 for the first time and established himself once and for all on the circuit.

"The Rio Open has a history of highlighting new stars and that's why we seek to bring young tennis players with the potential to become great champions. Casper Ruud, Nicolas Jarry, Dominic Thiem, Felix Auger Aliassime and Caros Alcaraz are some of the names we had the opportunity to watch when they were still young and promising. We believe that Fils has great potential in addition to being a very charismatic player who will fit in well with the Rio public," said Luiz Carvalho, Tournament Director of the Rio Open.

In just his third year competing on the professional circuit, the tennis player is already one of the candidates to compete in the NextGen Finals and is currently in fifth place. At the Rio Open, Fils will be alongside Carlos Alcaraz and Stanislas Wawrinka to fight for the title of the Rio tournament.
The Rio Open reaches its tenth edition, from February 17th to 25th, 2024, at the Jockey Club Brasileiro (RJ), featuring in its gallery of champions names such as Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer, Pablo Cuevas, Dominic Thiem, Diego Schwartzman, Laslo Djere, Cristian Garin, Cameron Norrie and Carlos Alcaraz. And that's not all! Among tennis players who have already been in the top 10 of the ATP rankings, the Rio Open also saw Kei Nishikori, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, John Isner, Marin Cilic, Gael Monfis and Fabio Fognini in action.
