The Rio Open presented by Claro will have a Super Tuesday with big names on the court, such as Brazilian João Fonseca, Italian Matteo Berrettini and Argentinians Francisco Cerundolo, the number 1 seed, and Sebastian Baez, the current two-time champion.
Berrettini opens the schedule on the Guga Kuerten Central Court starting at 4:30 PM (local time). In his second time competing in the biggest tennis tournament in South America, he will face Chilean Tomas Barrios Vera.
Then, João Fonseca will face his compatriot Thiago Monteiro, who is the Brazilian with the most wins (10) in the history of the biggest tennis tournament in South America.
"I think it's going to be super cool, Thiago is a great friend, we've trained together several times, we've played the Davis Cup too. He's a great player, we all know his history, his humility, his charisma, and here at the Rio Open he plays beautiful tennis, he likes to play with the crowd," said Fonseca.
The Court 1 will have an Argentinian day, with two of the title favorites in action. Top seed Francisco Cerundolo faces compatriot Mariano Navone. Current two-time champion Sebastian Baez takes on Portuguese player Jaime Faria, who reached the quarterfinals in 2025. The opening match on Court 1 is another duel between Argentinians, with Tomas Etcheverry against Francisco Comesaña, semifinalist last year.
Second seed at the Rio Open, Italian Luciano Darderi plays on Court 2 against Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo.
